Viewing Stones is an unusual and curious art form that is foreign to Western Societies. This book is an attempt to combine my interest in the Asian art form of Viewing Stones with my understanding of the science of geology. The appeal of attractively colored and oddly shaped stones is enjoyed by many folks. Some rocks are pleasing to the eye, although each of us has an individual notion of what we personally find artistic. The intent of this colored book is to introduce my fascination of rocks and minerals by illustrating and describing their weathered surface textures, shapes and colors as well as their internal mineral fabrics and colors. I include information about the geology of each stone for those who are interested. Over the years I’ve discovered that one of the
most agreeable ways to appreciate a stone I find interesting is to display it in a Viewing Stone format with a stand. Kind of like how artists exhibit their paintings with a wooden
